China Steps Up Bid to Confiscate $5 Billion Bitcoin From UK-Based Fraudster

Bitcoin fell nearly $3,000 to trade near $81,000 as risk-off sentiment pulled equity markets lower.
Bitcoin's price swings persist. The cryptocurrency is down by roughly $3,000, hovering around $81,000 after bottoming at $80,836 during the session. The peak of the day was $84,294, lower than the previous session's high of $84,774.
The highs from both sessions stopped short of the next major upside swing level at $85,578. Buyers had an opportunity to push the recovery further but failed to reach that barrier. In the current session, sellers have regained control.
Bitcoin's price action reflects the risk-off flows today.
Risk-off sentiment across equity markets has contributed to the downward move. The following index declines illustrate the mood:
The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.56%.
The Nasdaq 100 dropped 2.82%.
Bitcoin is mirroring equities today, at least. During risk-reduction phases, the digital asset tends to be swept up in the same wave of selling. The current price action confirms that pattern.
The lower swing zone is once again being tested.
From a technical perspective, the current drop has brought bitcoin into a lower swing zone ranging from $80,100 to $81,183. That range has served as the floor of the consolidation pattern since September 18. Monday's bottom of $80,595 also stopped inside that same zone.
This creates a clear level for traders to monitor. Buyers must protect support and lift the price above $81,183 to start relieving the short-term downward pressure. If support holds, it provides a base, though further upward movement is still required.
Sellers, meanwhile, need a sustained move below the lower bound. Consider $80,000 the critical threshold. A break below that level, sustained, would pave the way for further downside.
What happens if the range breaks?
Beneath the consolidation zone, the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement of the rally from July's low sits at $76,052. That level becomes the next key technical objective if sellers manage to hold control under $80,000.
The difference matters: testing support is not the same as breaking and holding below it. Sellers require an additional push to convert a swing within the range into a breakout beyond it.
