Altcoins Quack AI, Akedo, and Monero Reach Decisive Levels in Third Week of October 2026
Quack AI (Q) is overbought after a 298% surge, Akedo (AKE) faces a $63 million token unlock, and Monero (XMR) tests $600 resistance for a third time.
Bitcoin slipped below $80,106 but quickly bounced back above $81,183 to $82,537. The next test is the 100/200-hour moving averages near $82,710.
Bitcoin dropped to a low of $79,694 earlier today, falling below the key $80,106–$81,183 swing zone. That zone, which dates back to August 20, has served as a key reference for market participants.
A move under that floor was expected to clear the way for more downside. After the level was lost, the swing area—with the $81,183 upper edge in particular—was supposed to bring sellers out during any corrective bounce.
The bears, though, were unable to keep that momentum going.
Once the fresh low was in place, the price reversed to the upside, reclaimed the upper end of the swing zone and kept recovering. Within the past hour, that bounce has stretched to $82,537.
The sellers got their chance and failed to take it.
The failed move relieves some of the downside pressure and returns bitcoin to the wider trading range that runs toward $87,374. Still, re-entering the range is just one step; handing buyers greater control demands another.
Bitcoin's next challenge: the 100- and 200-hour moving averages
The immediate obstacle is the converging 100- and 200-hour moving averages around $82,710. The rebound has reached $82,537, putting bitcoin within striking distance of that moving-average ceiling. What happens when price gets there will help determine whether the bounce can grow into a stronger move higher.
A push above both averages would give the near-term bias a more bullish tilt, but holding above them is essential. If price pokes above quickly and then reverses, buyers could end up dealing with their own false breakout.
Should buyers manage to clear that hurdle and remain above it, these upside targets move into view:
$84,178: This week's high.
$85,578: Lower boundary of the upper swing zone.
$87,374: Upper boundary of that swing zone, also the wider range's ceiling.
Those levels offer buyers a route to follow, but the moving averages are the first obstacle. The door has to be opened before the road ahead can be examined too closely.
The battle would stay alive if the moving averages hold as resistance.
Should price fail to climb above those averages, the bounce would stay a recovery inside the range.
In that case, buyers and sellers would continue to battle between the $80,106–$81,183 support area and the moving-average ceiling near $82,710, with the averages still moving lower.
If a pullback develops, $81,183 offers the first marker. Holding above it would indicate that buyers are protecting the swing zone they recaptured. Slipping back inside that zone, meanwhile, would undercut the recovery and refocus attention on $80,106.
A sustained drop below $80,106 would strengthen the bear case again and heighten the risk of another visit to the $79,694 session low. Under that level, the 38.2% retracement of the climb off the $76,052 July low would emerge as a potential downside target.
The lesson for traders: a failed break is a hint; the next requirement is confirmation.
A drop through an established support level gives sellers a chance to seize control. Traders then watch for further selling and for the old support to turn into resistance during any bounce.
That follow-through never arrived today. Bitcoin retook the area it had lost and pushed upward, leaving traders who sold the break and stayed short exposed to an adverse move. Short covering of that kind can lend extra momentum to the bounce.
Still, a failed downside break by itself does not confirm an uptrend. It only shows that sellers came up short at a key spot. Buyers still have to prove they can get through the next resistance.
The moving averages near $82,710 are important for that reason. They give traders a benchmark against which to judge the bounce:
Above and holding: buyers would gain more control, leaving the door open toward $84,178.
Below: the rally would run into a ceiling and keep the range-bound battle intact.
Back below $80,106 and holding: the recovery would lose credibility and downside risk would rise again.
The wider lesson is to see what price does in the wake of a break. The first move grabs attention, but credibility comes from remaining beyond the level and continuing to build.
For now, sellers wasted their chance underneath the floor. The next opportunity is with the buyers at the moving averages.
