China's August retail sales rose 0.4% year-on-year, missing the 0.6% expectations, while industrial production beat forecasts.

Fixed asset investment for the year to date (August) dropped 7.2% compared with the same period last year.

  • The market had anticipated a 7.2% contraction, while the previous reading was a decline of 6.7%.

Retail sales in August were 0.4% higher year-on-year.

  • Economists had projected a 0.8% increase, after a prior gain of 0.6%.

Industrial output expanded 5.2% annually in August.

  • That beat the 4.8% consensus forecast and accelerated from the prior month's 4.5% rise.
