Key takeaways

  • CoinGlass' long-to-short ratio dropped to 0.68, its lowest point in over a month.
  • CryptoQuant data flagged spot and futures overheating, with large futures orders skewed to the sell side.
  • Near-term support stands at $0.088, then $0.086 and $0.085; moving back above $0.093 would relieve bearish pressure.

On Wednesday, Dogecoin continued its decline, trading around $0.090, pushed lower by growing bearish positioning in derivatives and weakening technical momentum.

DOGE has fallen over 5% this week. Despite staying above its 50-day and 100-day exponential moving averages, it has not reclaimed the 200-day EMA, keeping the short-term view fragile.

A price prediction and other market data indicate a rising tilt toward short positions, with large futures orders reflecting stronger selling.

Dogecoin's long-to-short ratio hits a one-month low

On Wednesday, CoinGlass' Dogecoin long-to-short ratio was 0.85, a level not seen in over a month.

A figure under 1 means short positions exceed long positions in the tracked data. This drop implies that traders have grown more bearish as DOGE's weekly declines continue.

The ratio reflects positioning, not a certain outcome for the next move. When bearish bets become crowded, a reversal can occur if buying interest returns.

Currently, this reading adds to the cautious view on Dogecoin.

CryptoQuant's summary pointed to overheating across Dogecoin's spot and futures markets.

It also noted large futures orders where selling prevailed. Combined, these signs indicate high trading volume coinciding with seller pressure.

Overheating does not guarantee a price drop. Yet here the sell-side imbalance and lower long-to-short ratio back a bearish reading of the market.

DOGE remains below its 200-day moving average

Dogecoin stayed under its 200-day EMA, close to $0.093, which now serves as a key barrier to a rebound.

The price still trades above the 50-day EMA at $0.088 and the 100-day EMA at $0.086. Those levels suggest some support persists after the recent drop.

Momentum readings were less favorable. The Relative Strength Index was near 48, just under the neutral 50, and the MACD line was slightly negative.

Combined, these indicators show buying momentum has faded without the market becoming deeply oversold.

Near-term support is at $0.088, where the 50-day EMA meets a horizontal price area.

Should that support break, the next targets are the 100-day EMA at $0.086 and the prior trendline breakout zone around $0.085. A daily close under this region would damage the technical setup and shift attention to the deeper horizontal support at $0.070.

To recover, DOGE must first take back the 200-day EMA at $0.093. A prolonged move above that would reduce short-term bearish pressure and focus on resistance near $0.102.

In the meantime, Dogecoin tests nearby support as bearish bets and weak momentum constrain any recovery.
