White Hats Transfer $4.5M in Bitcoin From Coldcard to Trust
White hats transferred 52.37 Bitcoin worth over $4.5 million from hacked Coldcard devices to a Wyoming recovery trust.
Ethereum rose after the CFTC submitted a crypto framework, breaking a month-long range. Upcoming UN meetings and data are key.
Macro Overview
On Friday, ethereum and other leading digital assets rose following a CFTC submission on crypto rulemaking that became public on Thursday. The submissions were sent for regulatory review after the CLARITY Act failed to advance in the Senate earlier this week.
By submitting the framework, the CFTC indicated it plans to proceed with regulating crypto markets under its current powers instead of awaiting congressional action. After this development, ethereum exited a trading range that had lasted a month, opening the way for a potential climb toward $3,000.
From a macroeconomic perspective, attention now turns to the upcoming UN General Assembly, where Trump scheduled a sideline meeting with Gulf leaders about the next steps in the war with Iran. Iran's delegation has also been permitted to attend, raising the possibility of a meeting between Trump and Iranian President Pezeshkian.
A reduction in tensions would likely push oil prices down, further alleviating inflation and rate hike worries and ultimately supporting risk appetite and digital currencies.
Given present market pricing, economic releases will also carry weight. When positions and expectations are extended, a small change in data can cause a large turnaround. Should US figures begin missing forecasts, bets on steep rate increases would likely diminish, providing an additional lift to ethereum.
Ethereum Technical Analysis – Daily Timeframe
Ethereum has broken free from its month-long range on the daily time frame, pushing to fresh highs. The next objective for buyers is likely the resistance near $3,400. At that level, sellers might enter with a defined risk above resistance, aiming for a decline to new lows. Conversely, buyers seek a move above resistance to add to bullish positions targeting new record highs.
Ethereum Technical Analysis – 4-Hour Timeframe
The four-hour time frame reveals the range breakout and a subsequent retest before another upward leg. Should there be a further pullback to the former resistance now support near $2,560, buyers are expected to act with a defined risk below support, positioning for gains to new highs. Sellers, however, want the price to fall back under that support to add short positions targeting a drop to $2,360.
Ethereum Technical Analysis – 1-Hour Timeframe
An upward trendline on the one-hour time frame outlines the current bullish momentum. In the event of a pullback, buyers may rely on that trendline with a defined risk below it to continue driving toward new highs. Sellers will aim for a break below the trendline to deepen the pullback to the $2,560 support.
Upcoming Catalysts
Tomorrow brings Trump's meeting with Gulf leaders, plus a possible sit-down with Iran's president at the UN General Assembly. Wednesday features the US flash PMIs, and Thursday includes a Trump-Xi meeting.
