FC Barcelona launched Barça Fan Lab, a Cardano-based platform that lets fans earn verifiable digital credentials through participation.
FC Barcelona unveiled Barça Fan Lab this week, a Cardano-powered platform where fans can earn verifiable credentials through participation.
The initiative was built alongside technology collaborator Andamio. It seeks to change how millions of supporters engage with the club.
.@FCBarcelona has just launched Barça Fan Lab, developed with @Andamio_teams using Cardano.
Fans will be able to learn about Barça’s history and values, take part in community activities, and gain verifiable digital credentials that will be stored in their own Cardano-based… https://t.co/ikfznNr0Yj— Cardano Foundation (@Cardano_CF) September 25, 2026
Users enter the platform via BarçaID, the club's current digital identity system. Logging in automatically generates a personal Cardano wallet linked to their profile and saves credentials acquired over time.
The initiative encompasses four categories:
Significantly, Cardano's community grant program, Catalyst Fund 13, contributed funding to the project. That financing helps account for why FC Barcelona selected this particular blockchain over competitors.
Teaming up with crypto projects has become a common strategy for sports clubs, one that has yielded varied results in other cases. Fan tokens associated with top clubs have sometimes suffered from low liquidity and disappointing real-world use once the initial excitement wore off.
FC Barcelona is not a newcomer to this area. In 2025, Barça Media introduced Barça.Pass, a different Web3 wallet created with Futureverse, which connected with more than 11 million existing BarçaID users then.
ADA, Cardano's native asset, was trading around $0.2526 at the time of publication, a 1% increase over the previous day. The token is still approximately 92% under its peak of $3.09, set on September 1, 2021.
If Barça Fan Lab provides substantial fan involvement or merely becomes another little-used digital wallet may rely on adoption figures that the club has not yet released.
