  • Per Ansgar, who leads Geely Sweden, has been appointed to the Concordium Foundation board.
  • Concordium is stepping up work on verified AI agents and digital payments.
  • The two companies are strengthening their cooperation on autonomous transactions.

Per Ansgar, chief executive officer of Geely Sweden Holdings AB, has joined the Concordium Foundation board. The appointment ties the blockchain platform more closely to the Geely group as Concordium builds infrastructure for verified digital interactions and autonomous AI agents.

His board seat brings more than 26 years of experience spanning autos and finance to Concordium.

In his career, Ansgar has occupied senior positions at Volvo Cars, Polestar and other Geely-group businesses.

His new role also continues a Concordium-Geely collaboration dating back to 2021.

Five-year Geely-Concordium partnership grows deeper

Concordium and Geely first came together around autonomous driving, and in 2022 the link was cemented with a Wuxi, China-based joint venture.

The alliance has also looked at uses where cars can deal directly with infrastructure and service providers via payments initiated by machines.

Connected vehicles could settle toll, charging and service payments with no direct action required from a driver.

Concordium's current push is broader, reaching toward infrastructure for verified digital interactions, with transactions by AI agents included.

Now that software can initiate transactions on its own, Concordium is working on systems that aim to determine who owns an AI agent, who gave it authority, and who answers for what it does.

In Ansgar's view, vehicles and the software inside them are more and more often taking part in transactions.

He went on to say that trust depends on evidence of who approved a payment and who bears responsibility, calling that the issue Concordium is tackling.

Ansgar's auto and finance background strengthens Concordium board

Since November 2024, Ansgar has led Geely Sweden Holdings as CEO, after earlier serving as its CFO.

Prior to his time at Geely Sweden Holdings, he was at Volvo Cars for 26 years, in roles such as deputy CFO and CFO of Volvo Cars China.

After that he was chief financial officer at Polestar. Alongside that, Ansgar sits on boards throughout the Geely group and is a member of the nomination committee at Volvo Car AB.

With Ansgar now on the board, Concordium's governance gains a senior Geely voice while the company develops infrastructure linking verified people and AI agents to transactions.

Lars Seier Christensen, the founder, chairs the Concordium Foundation Board.

The other board members are Ueli Maurer, a cryptography professor at ETH Zurich; Swiss commercial lawyer Simone Monnerat; and digital executive Nibras Stiebar-Bang.

Concordium pushes deeper into AI-agent infrastructure

The company's attention is shifting toward verifiable identities for AI agents capable of acting without human input.

According to Concordium, its technology lets counterparties confirm that an agent was authorised by a verified person or organisation.

The Agent Registry, which Concordium says went live in May 2026, has already logged more than 1,600 AI agents. Every registered agent is tied to a verified owner and gets a Verified by Concordium Badge.

That badge works on networks such as Ethereum and Solana, so AI agents can reveal information about their owners while keeping the underlying company documents private.

Concordium calls itself an AI infrastructure platform for the agentic economy, running on a regulatory-grade blockchain with identity and trust built into the protocol.

So Ansgar joins at a moment when Concordium wants to turn its earlier, auto-focused Geely relationship into a wider framework where vehicles, software and AI agents make transactions yet stay tied to identifiable owners who can be held responsible.
