A Google Cloud London outage disrupted Revolut, Lloyds, HSBC and Bank of Scotland services on Tuesday.
An outage at Google Cloud's London data centre has disrupted services for Revolut, Lloyds, HSBC and Bank of Scotland.
According to Google Cloud's status page, the problem is located in the europe-west2 region. Engineering teams are now working on a fix, with the outage producing "elevated errors and intermittent network failures".
Revolut customers started reporting that payments were failing before the UK bank confirmed the issues. A Reuters source said the problems are connected to the Google Cloud disruption.
Outage reports for Lloyds, HSBC and Bank of Scotland are also showing up on tracking site Down Detector.
Revolut's own status page details the scale of the disruption. It shows that ATM withdrawals, identity verification, card payments, transfers, logins, chat support, stock and crypto trading, plus many other features, are all unavailable.
Google has stated that a power event triggered the outage and that the event itself has now been contained. The company apologised for the trouble.
The firm advised affected users to "migrate their workload impacted to another available location (zone or region)".
A separate outage last September hit several AI companies, though that was put down to multiple internal infrastructure problems.
In April 2025, a cloud outage involving Amazon led major crypto exchanges to halt withdrawals and report service issues.
