Charles Hoskinson started a video without mentioning Cardano (ADA). He did not discuss tokens, roadmaps, or price predictions. The founder instead stated that a mother from Massachusetts should be executed.

The recording was made while the jury was still deliberating. Three days later, the trial ended in a mistrial. A further development is anticipated later this month.

The Case America Is Still Arguing About

Lindsay Clancy, aged 36, acknowledges strangling her three children at the family home in Duxbury in 2023. The youngest victim was eight months old. Defense attorneys did not contest the killings.

Rather, they contended that postpartum psychosis, an uncommon and serious condition that can occur after childbirth, made her not criminally liable.

After seven days of deliberation, the jury was divided 11 to 1. Judge William Sullivan called a mistrial on September 4. Clancy's attorney stated that one juror prevented an acquittal. The court did not disclose how the other 11 jurors voted.

The trial played out over the summer on national TV and TikTok. Public interest has not diminished.

Hoskinson Picks a Side

Hoskinson rejects postpartum psychosis as a justification. He questions where personal responsibility currently stops.

"She should be dead," he said.

He then invited his viewers to persuade him otherwise. No one has succeeded so far. He also stated that the husband is being held responsible. Patrick Clancy has publicly urged forgiveness for his wife.

A Founder Talking Past His Own Market

Hoskinson typically spends his weeks defending Cardano or discussing crypto and technology. He recently accused a nation-state of causing a significant AI outage and pledged that Cardano would prevail with assistance from Ethereum developers.

This explains why the video spread widely. Since it contained no trading cues, it reached audiences beyond cryptocurrency holders.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has yet to announce whether he will retry Clancy. Her next court appearance is scheduled for September 29.

Currently, Cardano's most prominent figure is directing his attention elsewhere.
