Bitget Theft Drives September Crypto Hack Losses to $766M
September's crypto hack losses hit $766.49 million, up 462% from August, led by Bitget's $387 million theft. PeckShield logged 55 major incidents.
Hyperliquid Strategies' wallet purchased $45.8M in HYPE, adding to its holdings after a $305.5M profit year.
A wallet tied to Hyperliquid Strategies has snapped up 494,200 Hyperliquid (HYPE) tokens, valued at $45.8 million.
This latest acquisition stretches a buying spree that has run for a month. The token at the center of that treasury has also far outstripped Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) over the current year.
Based on Lookonchain data, the wallet has accumulated 5.51 million HYPE, worth $476 million, in the last month. That works out to an average of 183,574 tokens, or $15.86 million, per day.
The firm's holdings now stand at 35.1 million HYPE, approximately $3.2 billion. That figure has risen from about 29.3 million tokens when its fiscal year ended on June 30.
Hyperliquid Strategies posted $305.5 million in net profit for the fiscal year, primarily thanks to gains in the HYPE price, according to its full-year profit report. Unrealized gains on its portfolio reached $709.9 million, the company's results showed.
This accumulation has coincided with a strong performance for the token in 2026. HYPE has surged 280% so far this yer, market data shows.
By comparison, Bitcoin has fallen 5.42% in 2026, while Ethereum has dropped 10.98%.
Artemis data highlights the divergent outcomes for treasury firms. Hyperliquid Strategies has $2.7 billion in unrealized gains, placing it second only to Strategy. At the opposite end, Ethereum-focused BitMine holds the largest unrealized loss.
Shareholders are also paying a premium for that exposure. DWF Ventures' most recent report ranks Hyperliquid Strategies among 4 of the top 20 treasury stocks that trade above the value of their holdings.
Its market-value-to-net-asset-value ratio stood at 1.17x in DWF's calculation. Since July, the stock has beaten HYPE by 31%. However, DWF found that for periods longer than 3 months, the token remained the better investment.
