John Deaton joins Grace Remington and Sean Hagan to explain that the Clarity Act cloture vote essentially decides whether the bill will even be debated, and why 53 Republican senators are insufficient to achieve that goal. He details the arithmetic that requires eight to ten Democratic votes, the stances of Josh Hawley and Rand Paul, and the outcome for American digital asset companies if Congress postpones action again. Deaton also contends that the United States still applies 1930s-era statutes to blockchain regulation.
