July US factory orders rise 0.9%, beating 0.6% forecast

US factory orders rose 0.9% in July, above the 0.6% forecast. Durable goods orders matched preliminary figures.

  • New orders for manufactured goods increased 0.9% in July, compared with the 0.6% estimate.
  • Durable goods orders for July came in at 1.1%, matching the preliminary figure. The prior month was 0.5%.
  • Excluding defense, durable goods advanced 1.3%, in line with the preliminary reading. June's figure was 0.3%.
  • Durable goods orders excluding transportation rose 0.4%, as initially reported. The previous month saw a 1.1% gain.
  • Nondefense capital goods excluding aircraft were unchanged at 0.0%, compared with a preliminary estimate of 0.2%. Last month they increased 1.7%.
