McDonald's India intern claims unpaid work and memecoin losses

McDonald's India has removed posts from its X account made by someone claiming to be an unpaid intern who said they were going hungry due to memecoin trading.

The initial post, made Sunday, stated that the person behind it handles several Asian McDonald's accounts as an intern.

According to the poster, their supervisor "Amit Joshi" has failed to pay them since December 2025, forcing them to take on two additional jobs in customer support and food delivery.

The individual also described themselves as a failed memecoin trader, saying, "I literally starve every day because I lose all my money on them."

The final post in the thread said McDonald's owes them ₹60,000 ($650) and that they are seeking public support.

No memecoin appears to have been promoted in connection with these posts, making a hack for a memecoin scam unlikely.

On Monday, McDonald's India described the posts as "#fakenews," though X users expressed doubt.
