Bitcoin Defies September Slump, Faces Demand Test in October
Bitcoin ended September up 6.33%, but demand from ETF buyers has faded and long-term holders are selling, testing the October outlook.
MEXC added 1,000 BTC to its Guardian Fund, bringing total to 100 million USDT and 2,000 BTC, as part of a $500 million commitment.
Cryptocurrency exchange MEXC said it has added another 1,000 bitcoin to its Guardian Fund, the second large BTC contribution to the fund this year.
The latest deposit follows a commitment MEXC made in May to increase the Guardian Fund from $100 million to $500 million over two years, a move aimed at adapting to shifting market conditions and security risks.
With this allocation, the Guardian Fund now consists of 100 million USDT and 2,000 BTC, strengthening the exchange’s user protection reserves as the digital-asset sector faces ongoing security threats. A series of security breaches across the industry has highlighted the evolving risk environment for crypto platforms and their users. Recent attacks have demonstrated that security threats are not static and that protecting users requires continuous investment in capital reserves, technology, and risk-management infrastructure.
MEXC’s initial 1,000 BTC deposit in May made bitcoin a long-term reserve component of the Guardian Fund alongside liquid USDT. The latest addition is the next phase of that strategy, reflecting the exchange’s view that user protection should be constantly reinforced rather than established once. MEXC will continue to expand the fund as its global user base, asset coverage, and operating environment grow and change.
The Guardian Fund’s holdings are publicly traceable on the blockchain through disclosed wallet addresses, allowing users to independently verify the reserves. The additional BTC pushes the fund further toward the $500 million target while the exchange invests in security, transparency, and risk-management infrastructure designed to protect users over the long term.
“Security and user protection is not a one-time investment. It is a continuous commitment,” said Vugar Usi, CEO of MEXC. “The risks facing digital asset platforms continue to evolve, and the resources behind user protection need to evolve with them. Adding another 1,000 BTC to the Guardian Fund reflects our long-term approach to building stronger protection for users and ensuring that the infrastructure behind that protection continues to grow with MEXC.”
