Prediction market platform Polymarket is shelling out between $20 and $500 for each promotional post on X made by professional Brazilian Counter-Strike players, according to reports.

As detailed by Counter-Strike news outlet Dust2, Polymarket compensates players for commenting on current events while referencing the platform and sharing their wagers. The website currently lists 509 different Counter-Strike-related bets, several of which see between $1 million and $2 million in trading volume.

AI-generated Polymarket content called 'digital cancer'

Professional Counter-Strike player Robin Kool recently announced he would block Polymarket promoters after an official Polymarket Counter-Strike account falsely claimed he was in Paris with a Porsche. Kool labeled the account's post as "digital cancer" and described those creating AI-generated sponsored Polymarket content as "a fucking joke."

so we just lying and creating shit out of thin air, that's how low we're going

and all the people sponsored doing AI slop tweets, what a fucking joke

genuinely blocking you if i see any of this AI slop on my timeline, this is literal digital cancer

Other users described the $20 per tweet fee as a means for professional players "to completely debase yourself… for a morally bankrupt gambling company."

Fake bets and Polymarket bans this year

Polymarket currently lists 39 countries where its services are restricted. The Wall Street Journal previously revealed that the platform's sponsored promotional posts were largely fake. The WSJ found influencers were using a counterfeit Polymarket website to fabricate bets and show $900,000 in winnings. Had those bets been real, the WSJ calculated they would have resulted in approximately $160,000 in losses. The report also identified so-called "clippers"—individuals who edit and distribute footage of these influencers—who were only compensated if 60% of their audience was based in the US. Polymarket is prohibited from operating within the United States.
