Nourddine Dgheir, who heads Al Jazeera's Tehran bureau, reported that sources in the city describe the atmosphere surrounding the talks as growing more positive.
Dgheir wrote that the Iran-U.S. negotiations, taking place in New York, have progressed from preliminary diplomatic contacts to a more detailed technical stage, with technical experts now participating. Additional Iranian officials have travelled to New York for the discussions.
According to the report, Qatar remains a mediator.
The latest reports have boosted risk appetite, with the S&P 500 reaching its intraday highs.
The update noted that an Axios report contains similar content. The same source suggested that the reports might be a Friday ruse to lower oil prices by a couple of dollars, but also expressed that hope springs eternal.
