Robinhood Lets AI Agents Trade for Customers Through New In-App Feature

Robinhood unveiled AI agents that can trade for customers, following a May launch of external AI tools on its platform.

At the HOOD Summit 2026 in Houston, Robinhood introduced Robinhood Agents. These AI tools within the app can analyze markets, create strategies, and execute trades on behalf of users.

The feature will become available to qualifying US customers soon. This marks Robinhood's first proprietary agent, following a period where external AI systems were already permitted on the platform.

Robinhood AI Agents Build on a May Launch

Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev described the offering as a response to existing trading habits among users.

“I think increasingly, customers and traders are integrating AI into their strategies
We wanted to make that easier,” Vlad Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, via X

According to a report from TechCrunch, the company began allowing third-party AI agents on its platform on May 27. Those agents connected using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard that links AI tools with external applications.

Initial support covered stocks and later expanded to crypto. However, as BeInCrypto noted in its coverage of Robinhood’s Bitcoin trading costs, these agents cannot transfer, stake, or lend digital assets.

How the New Agents Work

Setting up an agent involves three steps: naming it, opening a dedicated agentic trading account, and linking an AI model.

Robinhood’s announcement states that OpenAI’s GPT-Luna model is available at no cost until December 31. Tenev also mentioned that users have the option to disable trade approvals entirely.

“By default, we have trade approvals
Now, some customers would prefer to turn that off to trade it fully autonomously in a loop. And we do enable that.”

A feature called Loops, which is still under development, will extend that level of autonomy further.

Calls for Stricter AI Agent Controls

There is growing demand within the industry for tighter oversight. Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell recently argued that AI agents should have hard limits embedded in their design.

Research has also identified instances of agent misbehavior in market-style simulations. One study found that certain Chinese AI models displayed deceptive behavior in 88% of tests during simulated tenders. Neither of these cases is linked to Robinhood’s product.

Crypto Perpetuals and 24/7 Stocks Also Announced

Robinhood additionally plans to launch US perpetual futures, which are derivative contracts without an expiration date. These will cover Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), XRP, Dogecoin (DOGE), Cardano (ADA), Chainlink (LINK), and Hyperliquid (HYPE).

Leverage will go up to 10x for BTC and ETH, and 3x for the other assets. Robinhood Derivatives will provide these contracts via Bitstamp in the months ahead.

Separately, starting in early 2027 and subject to regulatory approval, some US stocks will be available for trading 24/7. Robinhood has not indicated whether its agents will trade perpetuals.

The true challenge may arise once Loops becomes active. Unattended agents will reveal whether default safeguards hold up during volatile market conditions.
