Justin Sun has named three mathematicians who solved six problems, but prize amounts and payment plans are still unannounced.
Over the past week, Justin Sun has been naming winners of the Justin Sun Prize, an honour established a few weeks ago for mathematicians who rely on AI to resolve long-standing math problems.
So far, three people have solved six problems, according to the award’s website, but it is still unclear what they will receive or when the prizes will be handed over.
The prize was introduced as the equivalent of a million dollars, paid out in stablecoins. As it turns out, the million-Tether or USDC awards are reserved for those who solve what are described as “pinnacle problems.”
Only seven of the site’s more than one thousand problems fall into that group.
The site does say the problems are divided into five categories, but it does not say what monetary compensation someone gets for solving any of the other 1,015 problems.
For all other categories, the site says “the specific capital allocation… determined by the Academic Committee.” The committee’s membership and the formula for deciding compensation are not laid out.
