Tesla (TSLA) shares ended Monday at $367.95, a 5.51% gain. Trading volume was 61.8 million shares, about 46% higher than the three-month average, even as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq declined.

The advance comes three days ahead of Tesla's Cybercab unveiling in Austin. Investors are now questioning if the rebound can hit the $400 resistance zone that limited the stock during the summer.

Three Catalysts Lifted Tesla Stock in One Session

Tesla has announced a Sept. 3 Cybercab event limited to invited guests, with a livestream available.

Over the weekend, Elon Musk stated that both SpaceX and Tesla are constructing 100 gigawatts per year of solar production capacity. He also noted that SpaceX will produce gas turbine blades internally, potentially accelerating turbine availability by as much as 18 months.

SpaceX and Tesla are each building 100GW/year of solar production capacity as fast as possible, but natural gas will still be needed to supplement and bootstrap solar for several years.

Additionally, Nevada regulators approved Tesla for 5,000 robotaxis in Clark County on Aug. 20. But during that hearing, Tesla's Cybercab chief engineer said the company anticipates about 2,500 within one year.

Fundamentals Still Lag the Narrative

Second-quarter revenue reached a record $28.24 billion, a 26% increase, supported by 480,126 deliveries. However, profitability declined.

Operating margin slid to 1.4% from 4.1%, and free cash flow became negative at $1.09 billion. Regulatory credits fell 67% to $146 million in that same earnings report. At the same time, the stock is trading at nearly 193 times forward earnings estimates.

Weekly Chart Shows Recovery Below the Midline

In mid-July, Tesla punched through the $400 area and the Gaussian channel midline, then dropped below the lower band around $300 during that decline.

Since then, the stock has recovered $350, a price that has served as both support and resistance for two years. Meanwhile, the price remains below the channel midline near $400.

The weekly Relative Strength Index stands near 48, returning to neutral following the summer decline. A more severe correction could bring the $260 level into play.

Tesla Stock: $400 Is the Next Test

On July 23, the daily chart fell below a descending parallel channel, and the price hit the measured target of $296.16 a few days later.

Tesla shares have risen 23.5% from that low. They have regained $350 and the channel midline, and are currently testing the 50-day moving average.

The first resistance is near $380 at the channel's upper boundary. Beyond that, $400 and the July swing high of $428.01 are in sight. The daily RSI of 59 indicates there is room before reaching overbought territory.

Analysts are divided, with price targets ranging from $125 to $600. Hence, Sept. 3 could determine the trend. A convincing Cybercab unveiling might push the price towards $400, whereas a rebrand of the current fleet would keep $350 as the key level.
