Bitcoin Magazine Books opens preorders for a 333-copy signed collector edition of The Genesis Book at $221.
On Friday, Bitcoin Magazine Books launched a third-anniversary campaign for Aaron van Wirdum’s The Genesis Book. The campaign features a redesigned Collectors Edition limited to 333 hand-signed and individually numbered hardcovers, each housed in an exclusive Genesis Block slipcase.
Every Collectors Edition hardcover bears a hand signature and a hand-numbered mark from van Wirdum, who previously served as editor-in-chief of Bitcoin Magazine. His book charts the individuals, initiatives and concepts that came before Satoshi Nakamoto's peer-to-peer cash system. The standard package, priced at $221, includes the book along with a limited trading card that has a Certificate of Authenticity, a collector pin, a sticker sheet, the slipcase and a digital package.
There are two one-of-one packages that fall outside the normal numbering sequence. The #1 package is priced at $5,000, and the #21 package at $2,500. Both come with the corresponding numbered copy, a matching one-of-one collector card and all the same extras as the standard collector package.
According to the campaign FAQ, standard collector numbers are assigned in order of purchase, beginning with #2 and omitting #21. After preorders end, the signed Genesis print run will never be reprinted.

In addition to the signed run, Bitcoin Magazine Books offers a Premium Edition hardcover at $160. It features foil stamping, a ribbon bookmark, stained page edges and custom endsheets. This edition is not limited, signed, numbered, or slipcased, and it lacks the collector extras and digital files.
A separate Digital Package is available for $9.99. It provides the ebook in EPUB and the audiobook in MP4 right after purchase, regardless of whether the physical campaign reaches its funding goal.
Physical orders for both the collector and premium editions are set to ship during the 2027 calendar year.
Van Wirdum, who first encountered bitcoin in 2013 and later headed Bitcoin Magazine's editorial team, presents The Genesis Book as an account of computer scientists, privacy advocates and heterodox economists pursuing government-independent digital money well before the 2008 white paper. The narrative spans from early cypherpunk culture to experiments including David Chaum's ecash, Wei Dai's b-money, Adam Back's Hashcash and Hal Finney's reusable proof of work.
The store images showing the slipcase and accessories are artistic renderings. According to the campaign page, color, materials and finishes may differ in production. BTC Inc., the publisher of Bitcoin Magazine, operates the campaign.
