Bitcoin ETFs Tipped to Triple Gold Holdings: BTC Price Impact
Bloomberg's Eric Balchunas predicts Bitcoin ETFs could hold three times gold's ETF assets, implying a potential BTC price range of $490k-$730k.
Crypto analyst Kyle Doops screens altcoins by relative strength; only HYPE, TRX, and Monero pass the 36% threshold.
Kyle Doops, a well-known crypto analyst and influencer, evaluates altcoins based on relative strength instead of how much they have dropped. BeInCrypto applied that same method to the 20 largest non-stablecoin assets. Only three altcoins meet the criteria.
Bitcoin (BTC) does not make the cut. In a podcast, Doops fielded a question about a filter for altcoins trading within 36% of their all-time highs. The Crypto Banter host accepted the description without objection.
Many newcomers do the reverse, seeking out assets that have dropped the most.
"They look at, hey, what's down 99.99% that's at a massive discount. Let's buy it. But instead, it's better to look at what hasn't been completely wrecked."
Only HYPE, TRX, and Monero meet the threshold. Below those, the gap widens sharply. Chainlink trades 78% below its peak, Cardano 93%, and Polkadot 98%.
On August 28, when the interview took place, Doops pointed to Hyperliquid as his prime example.
"Pretty much trading at all-time highs, which is absolutely unbelievable when you consider that Bitcoin is still down massively off of its all-time highs."
HYPE reached an all-time high of $89.60 on September 6. Since then, it has slipped to $78.82.
For TRON, Doops bases his case on a cup-and-handle formation. The 100% extension is at $0.4359, just above the current record of $0.4313.
The filter has a limitation. Doops highlighted Zcash at $791 and found its structure appealing. Yet ZEC doesn't meet his own criteria, trading 64% below its 2016 high. It has since rallied about 120% in a month and crossed $1,000 for the first time in almost ten years. Privacy coins represent the sole sector trading above Bitcoin's October 2025 peak.
Investor Dan Held stated that Bitcoin whales encouraged him to purchase ZEC months ahead of the rally. Focusing only on coins that hadn't been crushed would have meant missing out.
Turning to Solana, which is currently 66% below its high, Doops was frank.
"You have to call a spade a spade… as great as the narrative is, it's still 64% down."
Doops characterizes altcoins as "a short-term vehicle to rotate capital" back into Bitcoin.
"History would suggest that it's probably not a great idea to be an altcoin investor."
His screening method previously identified one coin that outperformed Bitcoin consistently across cycles. That coin, Dogecoin, now trades 89% below its all-time high.
