XT Exchange Marks Eight Years With a Look at What Follows a Stablecoin Payment

At XT Exchange's eighth-anniversary event, stablecoin adoption was tied to what merchants can do after the first payment: payroll, suppliers, accounting.

At XT Exchange's X Space marking its 2026-09-24 anniversary, Aaron.J, head of XT Labs, examined the infrastructure required to make stablecoin receipts spendable.

Receiving a stablecoin payment does not automatically settle a bill that must be paid in local currency. Money has landed, but payroll, supplier invoices and accounting still need attention. For a business deciding whether to accept stablecoins day after day, those follow-up tasks are part of the payment equation.

That was the problem Aaron.J, XT Labs' head, addressed at XT Exchange's Chinese-language anniversary X Space, “Building for the NeXT Billion: What Can Crypto Make Possible?” He saw possible advantages for smaller cross-border businesses, while noting the difficulty of converting or spending money through local channels. Any edge gained at the moment of transfer still had to survive the steps that came later.

Speaking in Chinese, he said: “I think this is still a pain point for the industry.”

He asked whether payment systems could carry a more complete flow of funds, including employee wages and supplier bills. If an ordinary merchant had to go back to standard payment infrastructure to settle those debts, parts of the flow could remain unresolved.

To start with, can the money coming in get to the people a company has to pay? Employees and suppliers may rely on different setups from the paying customer. Aaron.J's examples underscored that reliance: how useful a stablecoin receipt is also depends on what can be done with it afterwards, within the constraints of the operating environment.

HiSeven, who works with on-chain products and AI agents, took the example further into corporate accounting. He cited the need to record receipts, handle conversion, meet accounting requirements and pay the money out. There is still work for a business after an incoming transfer before that payment is truly done.

“Can merchants use it as a payment method in their day-to-day business?” HiSeven asked.

This line of questioning makes the tasks following an initial payment part of any choice to come back to the service. Companies would have to think about arrival times, transparent fees and access to local currency, as well as reconciliation and support when something fails. Manual effort accepted during a trial could become grounds to avoid the same route for steady receipts.

The same gaps showed XT Labs where useful products might take shape. Aaron.J expressed interest in helping teams that improve the final stage between fiat and crypto, together with merchant payment infrastructure. His investment lens gave the business cases a function: they showed where separate services had to connect before a payment could fit into everyday operations.

Local conditions would determine that work. Aaron.J conceded that structures had to respect each market's requirements, while the wider discussion recognised the ongoing value of existing payment methods. The opportunity was a practical path through a company's obligations, with costs and limits that users could understand.

The anniversary session at XT Exchange thus framed adoption around what happens after money arrives. A business needs spendable funds and records it can reconcile. Stablecoins look more practical when customer money can move through those stages without generating fresh complications for the next business day.
