Block awarded one bitcoin to a ComplexCon attendee to promote bitcoin adoption.
Block, the fintech company led by Jack Dorsey, awarded one bitcoin to a fortunate attendee at ComplexCon in Los Angeles as part of its drive for bitcoin adoption.
The firm participated in Complex Networks' annual event over the weekend, aiming to introduce newcomers to the leading cryptocurrency through what it called "culture, shopping and play."
Cash App, a Block subsidiary, set up a booth at the event featuring a game named "Lightning Lake" where attendees could win small amounts of bitcoin.

One lucky player, however, managed to claim an entire bitcoin, then worth $85,000.
Maria Pesce, Block's Head of Bitcoin Marketing, said: "We wanted bitcoin to feel approachable, tangible and fun."
"People could go from never having used bitcoin to paying with it, all in a trip around the lake."
She added: "At Block, our goal is to make bitcoin everyday money, and ComplexCon gave us a chance to introduce bitcoin to a new audience through culture, shopping, and play."
Block has long promoted bitcoin adoption through its businesses: Cash App lets users send, receive and buy bitcoin, while Square point-of-sale terminals accept it via the Lightning Network.
The NYSE-listed company this month launched an advertising campaign encouraging people to use bitcoin as a medium of exchange.
Dorsey, who left Twitter in 2021 to focus on payments and bitcoin adoption, has often said he wants the cryptocurrency to become the global currency and "everyday money."
The event also attracted celebrities: Kanye West's daughter North West and rapper French Montana were seen at Lightning Lake trying to fish for bitcoin.
