Strategy Halts Bitcoin Purchases Again After Brief Resumption
Strategy has again paused bitcoin purchases after a brief restart, buying back $176 million of its own stock instead.
Castle is opening its automated bitcoin financial platform to individuals, allowing dividend income to be taken in cash, bitcoin, or a mix.
Castle, which operates an automated bitcoin financial stack for businesses, has announced it is making the platform available to individuals. The company is extending its high-yield offering to personal accounts and introducing a category first: the option to take dividend income in bitcoin at whatever ratio the customer chooses.
The yield is tied to STRC, Strategy’s perpetual preferred stock, which Castle added earlier this year and which currently carries an annual dividend of 12% paid on a semi-monthly schedule.
Holders can elect to receive 100% of that payout in cash, 100% in bitcoin, or any mix in between, the company said in a Tuesday statement. Most Castle customers fall in the middle, according to the firm, using cash to pay operating expenses and letting the rest roll into bitcoin automatically with each distribution.
Co-founder and CTO João Almeida said, “Investors have long faced a choice between earning steady yield and holding bitcoin. Castle eliminates that trade-off,” adding, “By enabling a portion of dividend income to be automatically converted into bitcoin, so customers get both cash flow and long-term upside.”
Consolidation is the larger selling point. Castle brings operating cash, fixed income and bitcoin accumulation together on one platform, removing the need to move between a bank, an onramp and a brokerage. The design is automation-first: once a user lays out a strategy, the platform handles the execution.
Before this, Castle had served only business clients, a group that includes restaurants, gyms, churches, accounting firms, e-commerce shops, auto dealers, SaaS companies, real estate and non-profits. The demand for personal accounts came from those same clients.
“Feedback we heard over and over from business owners was: ‘I love this stack — when can I use it personally?'” co-founder and CEO Stephen Cole said. “Today we’re answering that. The same automated bitcoin-powered financial stack that runs their company’s balance sheet can now run their personal finances.”
Cole and Almeida founded Castle, and the company is backed by Boost VC and Winklevoss Capital.
