Crypto Platforms Are Chasing Stock Traders as 2027 Approaches

LBank's Kaia Wong tells BeInCrypto about stock-linked trading, token vetting, and retention plans ahead of 2027.

On LBank, a position in Nvidia can be taken without purchasing any Nvidia shares. Traders can track the chipmaker’s performance through a stock-linked product inside an exchange they already use for digital assets.

It is a single illustration of how platforms are widening their pitch ahead of 2027. Kaia Wong, LBank’s VP of Marketing & Partnerships, laid out the effort in an interview with BeInCrypto, describing a drive to follow traders into new markets and to pull them back once promotional rewards are spent.

Why Crypto Traders Are Turning to Wall Street

Kaia says developments around artificial intelligence and economic policy are pulling users toward “opportunities outside of crypto.” Their preference is to trade those themes on the platforms they already know.

LBank lists more than 250 trading pairs covering stocks and commodities, according to Kaia, and its traditional-finance products have posted a peak daily volume above $3 billion.

The broader market is also expanding. Tokenized stocks’ on-chain value is around $3.17 billion, a rise of 395% in a year. The figure captures outstanding value, a measure that is distinct from trading volume.

Betting on Nvidia Without Buying the Stock

What exactly a customer ends up owning deserves close scrutiny.

“They own a stock-linked instrument.” That is Kaia’s reply when the Nvidia product on LBank comes up. The arrangement offers exposure to the share price without direct ownership of the shares.

Comparable products are now appearing across a range of exchanges.

These structures let users take a view on a company’s prospects. A recognizable ticker, though, can represent an investment that differs from the shares a regular stock investor would expect.

Why a Trading Platform Wants Familiar Faces

Those products still need an audience. LBank has gone after one through alliances with cultural labels, among them Nobody Sausage and Pudgy Penguins.

“We try to give trading a voice and a face,” Kaia says in a market where much of the offering looks alike. Familiar characters can make an exchange seem more approachable, in her view.

LBank’s Pudgy Penguins collaboration in August came with a 500,000 USDT campaign. It fused the branding strategy with a more conventional exchange tactic: incentives designed to spark trading.

When Promotional Rewards Run Out, What Then?

Kaia Wong draws a line around what rewards of that kind can do.

Incentives can encourage a first trade, in her words, but “they don’t help with creating long-lasting volume”.

Her case is that users come back when an exchange offers markets they follow and a dependable trading experience. Adding stock exposure gives someone interested in AI firms yet another reason to open the same app.

“Retention is actually the key to our performance,” Kaia says.

The interview does not supply retention figures. Even so, the logic explains why an exchange would keep widening its offering after already attracting millions of registrations.

A Well-Known Blockchain Needs Token Checks Too

The search for new markets also carries exchanges into emerging blockchain ecosystems. Robinhood’s public mainnet went live in July, and LBank has set up a dedicated section for tokens tied to that network.

Kaia says “we assess every token individually” and describes checks covering project quality and disclosure as well as scrutiny of token holders and available liquidity.

She also draws a meaningful distinction: Robinhood’s name on the chain does not amount to an endorsement of every token built there. The platform hosting an asset and the organization responsible for it can be two different things for buyers.

Can You Sell at the Price Displayed?

For someone purchasing a token that has just been listed, the chance to sell matters as much as the purchase price.

The buy orders available on the book are what count. If too few sit near the displayed price, a sale can be filled further down the order book and the seller receives less than expected.

Exchanges should offer “transparent information and also consistent matching rules,” Kaia says.

“Those are the measures that tell us how the market is serving our users beyond the headline trading volume.”

That places execution inside the wider expansion story. More listings give users more choices; the liquidity supporting each one determines how easily they can trade.

What Does ‘100x’ Really Promise?

LBank’s “100x gems” campaign leads to a related concern: how should users read extraordinary returns?

In Kaia’s reading, it is a headline or a description of past performance, “instead of a promise of an average outcome”. She also allows that “a lot of tokens don’t go the same path over time”.

Her answer asks for context around volatility in the early stages and the difficulty of selling when liquidity shifts.

That context is necessary because a token’s largest recorded gain says little about what an ordinary customer earned. The eventual result is set by the price they bought at and the point at which they exited.

Who Is the Exchange Designed For?

The interview ends with LBank’s eleventh-anniversary theme, “Come as you are”, and the breadth of users an exchange wants to reach.

Kaia contends that platforms often wind up serving experienced traders best.

“Our responsibility is to meet users where they are and to help them move forward at their own pace.”

That responsibility only grows as trading menus expand. Someone who is comfortable buying Bitcoin may need a different sort of explanation before taking a position on Nvidia.

Heading into 2027, customers will need those explanations at the point of purchase, especially when a familiar stock ticker conceals an unfamiliar contract.
