Spot ETFs tracking Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) recorded combined withdrawals of $592 million on September 15. Both categories posted their steepest single-day capital exits in several months.

The withdrawals came after the CLARITY Act failed to gain traction in the US Senate. The legislative hurdle dragged prices lower, prompting capital to follow the decline.

Ethereum ETFs See Worst Day Since January

Ether (ETH) exchange-traded funds shed $141.47 million, marking their biggest daily outflow since January 30, based on SoSoValue figures.

No session in the intervening period approached that level. The previous worst day during that stretch saw $136.4 million leave on March 19.

The sell-off came after four consecutive weeks of capital inflows. ETH products attracted $1.94 billion across that period, with a peak of $824.4 million recorded in late August.

Bitcoin funds lost $450.33 million, their worst performance since June 25. Last week saw outflows total $462.7 million, the heaviest since early July, following three weeks of robust buying activity.

Trading volumes reflected the same trend. Bitcoin products generated $4.35 billion in turnover, against a 30-day average of $2.74 billion. Ethereum volumes more than doubled their usual baseline.

Altcoin Funds Show Mixed Results

Hyperliquid (HYPE) was the only altcoin product to post an outflow. Its funds saw $3.89 million exit, extending a September decline to $18.04 million.

Four funds attracted inflows. Solana (SOL) ETFs led with $1.35 million. Tron (TRX), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Hedera (HBAR) each recorded less than $500,000.

Six funds registered no activity. BNB (BNB), XRP (XRP), Chainlink (LINK), Avalanche (AVAX), Polkadot (DOT), and Litecoin (LTC) all posted zero flows. The 11 altcoin products finished the day with a combined net outflow of $1.66 million. Their total assets under management stand at $3.55 billion.

Both ETH and BTC ETFs remain in positive territory for September. Bitcoin funds show a month-to-date net gain of $17.1 million, while Ethereum funds carry $307.4 million. One heavy session has not erased the monthly performance.

The Federal Reserve will announce its rate decision on Wednesday, marking a second policy test within a 24-hour window.
