Bitcoin's Bart Simpson Pattern Emerges Following August's 25% Surge
Bitcoin's price retreat after a 25% August rally forms a Bart Simpson pattern; analysts watch $75,800 level while spot demand weakens.
Four of five altcoins that broke out in mid-August have September catalysts that could extend or reverse moves.
Five alternative cryptocurrencies saw breakouts in mid-August, with four of them now having specific September events that could either prolong or reverse the upward moves.
The market saw a phased shift. Uniswap's price hit a low on August 14, while Solana experienced a surge in trading volume on August 19. Zcash, Monero, and Hyperliquid all began rising together on August 22.

Grayscale launched the first US spot Zcash product on NYSE Arca on August 25, trading under the ticker ZCSH. The initial listing was relatively subdued, generating approximately $14.8 million in first-day trading volume. Notably, the price rally began three days before the ETF went live.
ZEC surpassed its November 2025 cycle peak around $750 on August 22. The asset subsequently climbed to $888, slightly below the 1.272 Fibonacci extension level at $903. The next extension target stands at $1,099. This marks an eight-year high, but not an all-time record, as ZEC previously traded above $3,190 in October 2016.
A vote among coin holders regarding the NU7 upgrade is scheduled to conclude on September 14. One of the proposals asks whether to replace the current halving schedule with a smoother issuance model. If the $903 level is rejected, the price could fall back to the $750 breakout point, which held steady on August 25.

THORChain enabled direct Monero swaps on August 25, allowing for trades against Bitcoin and stablecoins without needing to wrap the token. This development partially circumvents the exchange delistings that affected the asset throughout 2025. However, XMR does not have a specific September catalyst on its calendar.
The chart broke above the May swing high on August 22 and gained 26.5% over the following seven days. XMR is currently testing the 0.5 Fibonacci retracement at $538. Above this lies the 0.618 golden pocket at $600, followed by the all-time high of $799.89, which was set on January 14.
In contrast to Zcash, this move appears to be driven by derivatives. Open interest roughly doubled over two weeks to around $278 million, with futures volumes significantly exceeding spot activity. A squeeze that builds so quickly can also unwind just as rapidly. Earlier positioning data for privacy coins showed a similar pattern.
Immediate support for XMR stands at $476.53.

Hyperliquid channels 99% of order-book fees into buybacks, currently valued at roughly $58 million to $80 million monthly. A release of approximately 14.2 million HYPE tokens, worth nearly $1.2 billion, is scheduled for September 29. About 47% of that amount will go to insiders.
HYPE surpassed its previous record of $77 on August 22 and hit $86.71 five days later. The initial target is the 1.272 extension at $92.37, followed by $111.93.
Historically, monthly token releases moved the price 14.1% lower in May, 1% higher in June, and 7% lower in July. From the current $81.78 level, that range translates to roughly $70 to $76, which encompasses the $77 breakout point. Below that, support is found at $64.91, followed by $55.41, where the 0.618 retracement meets the trendline from January.

Uniswap activated v4 protocol fees and Robinhood Chain fees in late July. August marked the first full month with both fee streams operational, resulting in a record $8.9 million in burn funding. That is roughly double the rate seen since January.
UNI established a higher low on August 14, then broke through swing highs at $3.99 and $4.43. It is now testing the 0.618 retracement near $4.94. Above that sit $5.66 and the January high at $6.57.
Senate cloture vote on the CLARITY Act is expected in mid-September and requires 60 votes. Failure could derail the breakout. Therefore, the burn narrative comes with a caveat, as a 20 million UNI annual growth budget keeps supply closer to neutral than deflationary.

Validators approved SIMD-0550 on August 28, doubling the annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%. On the same day, Bitwise crossed $1 billion in Solana ETF assets. Transaction V1 activates on September 9, increasing the maximum transaction size by more than threefold.
SOL broke through the 0.382 retracement at $93.98 and is now confirming the 0.5 level at $104.44 as support. Volume has expanded since August 19. The next target is the 0.618 retracement at $114.89.
However, the fundamentals tell a different story from the chart. Network fees dropped 44% quarter over quarter, and Solana's share of global fees fell to 17.3% from 26.6%. That divergence makes $104 the critical level to watch.
The September schedule is packed. Transaction V1 arrives on the 9th, the Zcash poll concludes on the 14th, the CLARITY vote occurs mid-month, and Hyperliquid's unlock happens on the 29th.
Four of these five assets have a dated event, and the leaders are overextended after an eight-day rally. Monero is the outlier, so its trajectory depends on market flow rather than a specific catalyst.
