Bitcoin's Bart Simpson Pattern Emerges Following August's 25% Surge
Bitcoin's price retreat after a 25% August rally forms a Bart Simpson pattern; analysts watch $75,800 level while spot demand weakens.
Strategy bought 4,603 bitcoins for $369.7 million, resuming purchases after a 10-week hiatus. The company now holds 845,050 bitcoins.
Strategy resumed purchasing bitcoin last week, acquiring roughly $370 million worth of the digital asset, as per a Monday statement from the firm.
According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Strategy purchased 4,603 bitcoins for $369.7 million from August 24 to August 30. The average price per coin was $80,318, the filing indicated.
The acquisition follows a halt in bitcoin purchases in June, when Strategy turned its attention to building a cash reserve, repurchasing its shares, and occasionally offloading some of its bitcoin holdings.

“Strategy is evolving from one-way capital issuance to active capital management,” Phong Le, the company's CEO, stated in June. “We intend to move between issuing securities when capital is attractive and repurchasing securities when our instruments trade at levels that make buybacks accretive. This flexibility is designed to create shareholder value, improve corporate performance, and strengthen the quality and market standing of Strategy’s securities in the eyes of investors.”
The company holds $5.1 billion in its USD Reserve and $1.61 billion in its newly established USD Cash reserve, which was unveiled last week.
Strategy currently possesses 845,050 bitcoins, valued at $65.8 billion based on current market prices.

The software firm, previously known as MicroStrategy, started purchasing bitcoin in August 2020 as a treasury tactic to enhance shareholder returns amid the pandemic.
Since then, it has invested over $63.7 billion in bitcoin acquisitions and remains the largest corporate holder of the cryptocurrency globally. Its strategy inspired numerous imitators that have since implemented comparable crypto-treasury approaches.
Chairman and founder Michael Saylor has stated that the company is now concentrating on developing digital credit, specifically high-yield instruments like its preferred equity STRC, which are collateralized by its bitcoin.
Strategy shares (NASDAQ: MSTR) traded modestly higher on Monday morning in New York. The stock has fallen about 20% so far this year.
Bitcoin was quoted at $77,821 on Monday morning in New York, following a weekly high of $81,281. The cryptocurrency has remained flat over the past 24 hours but has surged over 24% in the last 30 days.
