FX option expiry list for 12 October shows light schedule

Only a minor EUR/USD option expiry at 1.1225 is scheduled for 12 October, with thin liquidity from a US bond market closure possibly amplifying moves.

No major options expiries are scheduled today, with the complete list shown below.

Only a single EUR/USD expiry at the 1.1225 level stands out. Spot sits roughly 15 pips below that level, and the small size of the expiries means they are unlikely to have a significant impact on price action.

The lack of options interest is not surprising given that it is a partial US market holiday. As a note, the US bond market is closed today but the stock market will remain open. Thinner liquidity conditions will make navigation more difficult and could amplify price moves because of limited buying and selling flows in the sessions ahead.

Looking at the bigger picture, broader market sentiment and key technical levels will be more important drivers to consider as the new week begins.

For now, the dollar tone remains subdued with minor changes among major currencies. US futures are pointing higher, and lower oil prices are keeping the risk mood in a better position to start the day. On the latter, traders appear to find some comfort in hopes of a Russia-Ukraine energy ceasefire, even if it remains uncertain. That is offsetting some of the weekend's Middle East hostilities and easing inflation concerns temporarily, helping to keep broader market sentiment steadier.

When the US bond market reopens tomorrow, interest on the expiry board is expected to increase as well.
