How a $100 Game Could Leave You $5,000 Richer, According to a Millionaire

Millionaire Mark Tilbury says spending evenings playing GTA 6 can save $5,000 compared to nights out.

A millionaire investor named Mark Tilbury has offered a surprising piece of financial advice tied to the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, suggesting a $100 video game could end up saving people $5,000.

In a clip that has gone viral, Tilbury argues that spending evenings in the fictional Vice City of GTA 6 might be a lot cheaper than going to real bars and restaurants. His reasoning has split opinions among viewers.

Why GTA 6 Seems Like a Bargain on Paper

Tilbury begins with a price of $99.99. That amount gets you the Ultimate Edition on PlayStation; the standard version costs $79.99. Both editions release on November 19.

He assumes players will dedicate roughly 80 hours to the game, which brings the cost per hour for the Ultimate Edition down to around $1.25.

That 80-hour estimate is based on one Rockstar developer's playthrough, which included optional missions. It does not guarantee how long others will need.

If a player spends 200 hours on exploration and side missions, the hourly cost falls to about 50 cents.

After that, Tilbury makes his more dramatic case.

Does Playing GTA 6 Really Save $5,000?

Consider playing GTA 6 for four hours each evening over a span of 50 nights. Compare that to going out every one of those nights and spending $100 on food, drinks, and entertainment.

Those nights out would total $5,000. The game would leave you roughly $4,900 ahead, provided you actually would have spent that money.

That assumption is where the logic becomes questionable.

“4 hours every evening is an INSANE amount of time,” one viewer complained.

Others noted that spending $100 every night on a night out is not typical. And someone who intended to stay home anyway would not save anything.

Even so, some viewers liked the reasoning.

“Thank you for the information. I will send this video to my parents,” another viewer commented.

Tilbury's argument is made in jest, but the core question is a familiar one: how much entertainment do you get for your money?

With GTA 6 on the horizon, buyers may find that calculation more persuasive than the attention-grabbing $5,000 figure.
