iFX Hack Hong Kong 2026 to Host AI Fintech Hackathon at HKU

HONG KONG, Sept. 22, 2026 – iFX Hack Hong Kong 2026, a Trading & Fintech Hackathon Powered by AWS, is scheduled for Oct. 4, 2026 at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). The event will unite students, developers, entrepreneurs, AI specialists, and financial services and technology professionals to develop practical AI-driven solutions for the future of finance.

The hackathon is co-organized by iFX and HKU Business School’s Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), with AWS as the power behind it. Partners include the Artificial Intelligence Association of Hong Kong (AIHK) and Tsunami Advisors, while HKU Technology Entrepreneurship Core (TEC) serves as a Supporting Organization.

Under the theme “Build the Future of Finance with AI,” participants must identify a meaningful problem in financial services and create an AI-powered solution or working prototype.

Areas teams may explore include trading, payments, compliance, and digital assets.

Participation is free and open to students and professionals aged 18 and older, including developers, entrepreneurs, AI specialists, fintech professionals, and anyone with relevant skills, interest, or an idea to contribute.

Applicants can sign up individually or in teams of two to five people. Those without a team may be matched with others as appropriate. The hackathon is capped at 100 participants. The top seven teams move on to the Grand Final at iFX EXPO Asia 2026, held Oct. 8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

Finalists get Oct. 5-7 to refine their prototypes before presenting on the iFX EXPO Asia stage to an international audience. They also compete for a total prize pool of HKD 28,000: first prize HKD 16,000, second prize HKD 8,000, third prize HKD 4,000.
