Magnificent 7: Technical levels for each stock after sharp sell-off

The Magnificent 7 stocks all declined as U.S. indices fell sharply, with Nvidia and Tesla dropping most. Apple and Alphabet showed relative strength.

The Magnificent 7 are all lower as broader U.S. indices sell off sharply. The S&P 500 has fallen about 4%, the Nasdaq Composite is down 5.10%, and the Nasdaq 100 is down 5.75%. Of the seven, only two stocks — Nvidia and Tesla — have declined more than each of the three indices.

Apple and Alphabet hold up best

Apple has dropped 1.27%, the smallest decline among the group. Alphabet follows with a 1.53% fall. Amazon is off 2.49%, Microsoft is down 3.64%, and Meta is lower by 3.87%. All five have performed better than both Nasdaq measures, but Apple and Alphabet's outperformance is far more pronounced than that of Microsoft and Meta.

For Apple and Alphabet, the key is whether their relative strength translates to support. Buyers may step in at a level and establish a low. If that happens, the following challenge is for the price to reclaim the initial resistance zone and hold above it, giving buyers a foundation.

Nvidia and Tesla see the most selling

Nvidia has fallen 8.55% and Tesla is the worst performer, down 11.19%. Both are declining far more sharply than the Nasdaq100. On a potential bounce, the behavior determines the bias. If sellers use a prior support level as resistance on the way up, the downside bias remains. If the price gets back above that level and holds, sellers lose some control.

The levels that matter from here

On such a day, the magnitude of the drop indicates where selling pressure is concentrated. Technical levels help assess if that pressure is diminishing or increasing. A support break that holds opens the path to the next downside target. Conversely, if the price quickly recovers above support after a dip, sellers may need to reconsider the breakdown.

This distinction also clarifies risk management. Buyers leaning on support have a clear level to exit if the trade turns. Sellers leaning on resistance during a bounce have a similar reference on the upper side.
