Meta's Connect 2026: $1,299 VR Glasses and AI Keychain Charm

Meta Platforms (META) showed off Meta VR Glasses, which cost $1,299.99, during its Connect 2026 gathering. Additionally, it gave a first look at Muse Charm, a keychain accessory for the Muse AI assistant.

Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's chief executive, described the product as the company's initial effort to provide VR through glasses instead of a complete headset. The product range also features audio glasses without a camera and a third-generation Ray-Ban Meta.

Meta VR Glasses Weigh Only 100 Grams

Per Meta, the spectacles tip the scales at roughly 100 grams. A cord connects the frames to a processing puck that attaches to a pocket or bag. This means the puck does the computing, keeping the glasses lightweight.

Meta markets the device as a personal movie theater, a setup with several monitors, and a gaming system. Instead of using controllers, people operate it with voice commands, eye movements, and hand gestures. Its battery lasts for about three hours of watching videos. The product will be available in spring 2027.

This release comes after a difficult period for Meta's VR division. In March, the company backtracked on its decision to shut down Horizon Worlds VR on Quest, doing so just a day after the announcement. At the same time, Snap, Snapchat's parent, experienced a stock drop of nearly 10% in June when it introduced augmented reality glasses priced at $2,195.

Muse Charm Adds an AI Assistant to Your Keychain

Zuckerberg kept Muse Charm as a surprise at the end of the event. Meta introduced the Muse AI agent on September 8. This assistant can do things like schedule appointments and send emails, and it operates on the Muse Spark model family.

Per Engadget, Meta has made just a few Charm prototypes up to now. Nonetheless, it intends to start shipping in December, and the price has not been announced.

The new Ray-Ban Meta Audio frames remove the camera completely. These 43-gram spectacles have a starting price of $349 and provide as much as 12 hours of battery, according to Meta. They will be available from October 13.

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, on the other hand, begins at $449 and includes a six-microphone setup and Aviator designs. Meta also announced a partnership with Blackpink's Lisa and an ivory color option for its Kylie Jenner edition.

This product range closely links Meta's hardware plans with Muse. The VR Glasses won't be out until spring 2027. In the meantime, the Charm's launch in December might gauge consumer interest in a standalone device for the AI agent.
