By employing an aggressive hold strategy, a trader identified as Point Farm Capital has parlayed a wager on the Solana meme coin STONK into gains exceeding $10 million.

On-chain data provider Lookonchain reports that the trader currently possesses 35.7 million STONK tokens, worth about $10.55 million, which makes them the biggest individual holder of the token.

Path to the $10 Million Stake

On an initial outlay of roughly $542,000, the unrealized profit is close to $9.81 million, representing a return of more than 1,800%.

STONK's market capitalization was about $12 million when the trader began accumulating, but has since surged to roughly $255 million, generating disproportionate profits for those who bought early and held on.

According to on-chain records, the trader purchased steadily during the token's early period, then held through the subsequent bullish price movement.

This holding strategy stands in contrast to the rapid trading that is typical in meme coin markets, where participants often take profits quickly rather than allowing positions to grow.

Data from the FOMO leaderboard tracking the same account indicates that the position experienced significant fluctuations over time.

Around September 8, the trader saw a temporary loss of $2.69 million within a 24-hour period, which was then erased by STONK's subsequent rally, highlighting the token's extreme volatility.

Why Such Gains Are Rare

This trade showcases the significant upside possible with Solana meme tokens when a trader's conviction matches market timing. Nevertheless, such results are exceptional, and the majority of investors who join later or cannot withstand major price swings end up with substantial losses.

Survivorship bias significantly shapes how such narratives circulate: losing positions seldom attract the same level of viral interest as an eight-figure unrealized profit.

The total market capitalization of STONK is still modest and the token is thinly traded compared to larger cryptocurrencies, so prices can drop as dramatically as they rose.

The $10 million gain is still only on paper, depending entirely on a token that might lose the bulk of its worth in a single trading session. The majority of traders who try this approach end up losing from that volatility.
