Iran reiterated seven conditions for progress with US; includes military halt and sanctions removal. WTI crude fell to $101.60.
This week, Tehran has repeatedly voiced its "seven conditions," the majority of which were already included in the June 17 accord with Washington.
The following is a summary of those conditions:
1. Cease all military campaigns across every front. This includes a lasting stop to assaults on Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, and the Palestinian territories.
2. Free up Iran's frozen overseas assets. About $12 billion in funds have been identified in later talks for unfreezing.
3. Remove the US naval blockade. Halt restrictions at Iranian ports, on tankers, and on commercial shipping.
4. Drop economic and political sanctions. Reestablish Iran's capacity to export oil and carry out international financial deals.
5. Pull US naval and air forces out of the region. Stop the American military presence and operations that Tehran views as a threat to Iran.
6. Provide war reparations. Compensate Iran for harm caused in the 2025 and 2026 wars.
7. Cease threats and hostile meddling. Halt military threats, antagonistic language, and what Tehran sees as interference in its domestic matters.
The US is pressing for progress on the nuclear to file alongside any moves it might make on those conditions. This suggests Iran is not overly concerned about new US strikes, though tough talk is common before talks.
WTI crude oil recently fell $1.17, settling at $101.60.
