Distributed tokenized asset holders climbed to an all-time peak of 3.67 million, according to RWA.xyz, a real-world asset data source.

The vast majority of that growth came from tokenized stocks. They represent 80.58% of all distributed asset holders, far outpacing any other category.

Tokenized Stocks Overshadow All Other Asset Classes

Among all categories, stocks claimed 2.96 million holders. Commodities came in second with about 332,000, then asset-backed credit at around 91,000 and active strategies at roughly 81,000.

US Treasury debt had nearly 73,000 holders, even though it dominates the sector by value. Real estate had around 15,000 holders, and venture capital had less than 1,500.

This disparity shows how rapidly equity tokenization has grown since platforms began listing blue-chip stocks onchain. Tokenized stocks now total 5,246 distinct assets valued at $2.89 billion, up 14.03% over the past month.

The total represented value across all tokenized assets climbed to $386.92 billion, a 3.63% monthly increase. The distributed value rose much more slowly, gaining 1.54% to $39.15 billion.

More Holders, But Less Trading

The surge in holders contrasts with weaker trading activity. While tokenized stock holders increased by 159.31% in the last 30 days, the monthly transfer volume dropped 50.96% to $13.14 billion.

Over the same period, monthly active addresses fell 48.36% to 760,339. Although more people own these tokens, fewer are trading them.

This slowdown has also affected decentralized platforms. Real-world asset perpetual trading volume declined 13.5% to $122 billion in August, after hitting a record $141 billion in July.

Among platforms, Ondo tops the list with $860 million in value, followed by xStocks at $631.2 million and bStocks at $627.5 million. Robinhood holds $133.2 million across 189 assets, while its CEO advocates for U.S. access to tokenized equities.

The coming weeks will show if the growing holder base translates into renewed trading volume.
