Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas advised buying bitcoin to protect savings from fiat inflation, calling it a hidden tax.
Ricardo Salinas, the Mexican billionaire, has once again voiced his views on bitcoin.
In a post on X, the country's third-wealthiest person stated that "fiat inflation is a hidden tax," and that purchasing bitcoin offers a hedge against it.
Salinas, the former chairman of home appliance and electronics retailer Grupo Elektra and founder of Banco Azteca, urged his audience to opt out of the system and protect their savings.
When you work, you trade your time (your life) for money. But when governments create money at will and dilute its value, they steal the time you sacrificed to earn it.

In a video posted on X on Monday, Salinas stated, "Bitcoin changes one fundamental rule: no one can print more just because they want to."
He added, "While you have to work to earn more money, the system can simply create more of it. Don’t be fooled: learn, protect your savings, and defend your freedom, buy bitcoin and hold it."
This is not the first instance of Salinas cautioning his followers about government monetary policy.
With millions of followers on X, the billionaire posts nearly every day, and his frequent criticism of central bank money creation surfaces in tweets, interviews, keynote speeches, and video messages.
The entrepreneur has intensified his critiques of governments and his endorsements of bitcoin in recent years. Earlier this year, he disclosed that he had raised his bitcoin allocation to 70% of his portfolio, up from 10%.
Salinas's bitcoin advocacy is rooted in central bank monetary policy. At Bitcoin 2022, he referred to conventional money as "the fiat fraud."
Of the Federal Reserve, he said, "What they are doing is printing money out of thin air, and then making fake purchases."
The business magnate has also mentioned his success in "orange pilling" his friends and family.
In an interview, he once boasted, "I convinced my wife to mortgage the house that she has and take a loan to buy bitcoin."
