Solana Meme Coin Mimicking Hoskinson's Quinelings Loses Over 90% in Hours

A Solana meme coin named Quinelings crashed over 90% after taking the name from Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson's latest project.

Cardano creator Charles Hoskinson unveiled Quinelings, open-source applications that can regenerate their own code and assume forms resembling living beings. A Solana-based meme coin that took the same name collapsed rapidly after launch.

The initiative is built on quines, long-established programs that reproduce their own source code. Hoskinson describes his versions as digital lifeforms.

What Are Cardano Founder Hoskinson's Quinelings Exactly?

In the unveiling video, programs typed into terminals transform into creatures that eat, reproduce, and eventually perish.

Each Quineling begins as written instructions for a job, provided by a human or an AI agent. Its animated body corresponds to each of those steps.

Complex tasks result in fractal-shaped bodies, while simpler ones produce petal-like structures resembling sunflowers. The project’s website displays five examples, among them a route finder and a job scheduler.

Users can run each task and click a body area to see that step’s values. A copy button reconstructs the program from its own source and verifies the output.

Before a program is constructed, its compiler rejects tasks that exceed set size limits or include infinite loops.

In a section named the Ranch, two programs can generate an offspring. One parent’s result can be passed into the other’s task, but only when value types and units align.

Currently, all examples operate as browser-based local simulations.

The release extends Hoskinson’s emphasis on artificial intelligence. In September, he stated that crypto will eat AI. Earlier this month, he labeled Vitalik Buterin’s warning about AI as self-interested. Prior to that, he issued a free watermark removal tool for Anthropic’s Claude.

Why Did a Copycat Meme Coin Plunge Within Hours?

The repository makes no mention of Cardano, blockchain, or tokens.

Nevertheless, a Solana meme coin named Quinelings emerged on PumpSwap shortly after the post.

Its DexScreener page references Hoskinson’s GitHub and X post. However, there is no evidence linking the Cardano creator to it.

The token shed more than 90% of its worth within hours.

Well-known figures often drive activity in such tokens. In August, a Musk raccoon post pushed the JIMOTHY meme coin up 331%.

Bots can buy the instant those tokens go live, leaving subsequent buyers with losses.

Cardano founder Hoskinson presents Quinelings as a research prototype, not a token. Its stated goal is to make AI agents’ tasks easy to preserve, examine, and exchange.
