Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy is seeking shareholder approval to pay daily dividends on four of its preferred stock series.

The company, the largest corporate bitcoin holder, announced on Friday that it wants investors to receive dividends every calendar day—including weekends and holidays—on STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD.

"If approved and adopted, we believe this would reduce reinvestment lag, enhance liquidity and market efficiency, and increase price stability," Strategy said in a statement. A shareholder meeting to vote on the proposal is scheduled for October 28.

Strategy is proposing daily dividends on $STRF, $STRC, $STRK, and $STRD, accruing every calendar day, including weekends and holidays, and paid the next business day, with economics unchanged. The proposed changes aim to support price stability, liquidity, and demand.

Strategy had slowed its bitcoin purchasing this year as the cryptocurrency entered a bear market. The company shifted focus to protecting its balance sheet and sold portions of its bitcoin holdings.

Friday's announcement stated that the move would benefit both investors and common stockholders.

"We believe these enhancements can also benefit our common stockholders by increasing the attractiveness and utility of our Digital Credit instruments, supporting our ability to access preferred equity capital efficiently and expanding the capital markets toolkit we use to execute our Bitcoin Treasury strategy," Strategy added.

Strategy, previously known as MicroStrategy, is an enterprise software firm that began acquiring and holding bitcoin in 2020.

Its initial bitcoin purchase was intended to hedge against inflation for shareholders. Since then, the company has aggressively accumulated the asset and transformed into a bitcoin treasury operation.

Investors can buy Strategy shares for greater exposure to bitcoin or earn a yield through its digital credit products.

The company had been buying bitcoin each Monday but scaled back after announcing a program that allows it to sell BTC from time to time to raise up to $1.25 billion for its USD reserve, fund preferred stock dividends and interest expenses, or finance repurchases.

In a Monday filing, Strategy reported that it bought 950 bitcoin for $75.7 million last week—its first purchase since August.

The Nasdaq-listed MSTR stock has fallen roughly 50% over the past year amid bitcoin's price decline.

However, since Strategy began buying bitcoin in 2020, MSTR shares have gained nearly 1,000%.
