President Trump began the week with a barrage of statements on Truth Social.

Iran is officially a Failed Nation. IT IS DEAD! They have no Navy, they have no Air Force, they have no currency, they are not paying their soldiers or police, Inflation is at 300%, and their leadership is in total disarray and incapable of properly representing the country. The only thing they have is FAKE NEWS from the USA, a willingness to kill their protesters (now over 100,000 people dead. They must be tried for war crimes against humanity!), and a good line of “BULLSHIT.” Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J.TRUMP

The assertion that Iran lacks a navy and air force was first made by Trump on March 3, 2026, during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Office.

He stated:

“They have no Navy; it’s been knocked out. They have no Air Force; it’s been knocked out.”The conflict began on February 28.

On August 24, the Trump administration initiated Operation Economic Outcast, a new phase centered on economic isolation, without declaring an end to military actions or ruling out further strikes.

The president may be growing impatient as oil prices climbed sharply in trading on Monday, despite the U.S. and Venezuela reaching what Trump labeled a “historic” oil agreement. Under the deal, the United States gains majority participation in developing a large set of Venezuelan oil fields.

Important specifics:

  • The pact covers 17 oil fields holding an estimated 65 billion barrels of proven reserves.
  • These fields have supposedly been leased to a new private venture for a 100-year term.
  • The U.S. gets a 55% effective share, split between equity ownership and production rights.
  • Washington also secures the right to buy oil at cost, with some of that crude set aside to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and support the U.S. military.
  • Venezuela projects the initiative could draw over $100 billion in private investment and yield more than $209 billion in tax revenue.
  • Trump contends the agreement will eventually reduce gasoline prices and bolster U.S. energy security.

The market's key caveat is timing. Venezuela currently produces roughly 1.25 million barrels per day. Yet bringing substantial additional output online will require billions of dollars and likely take several years. As a result, the deal carries a potential bearish influence on oil prices over the long term but provides little immediate relief from supply disruptions tied to the Iran conflict.

Major unanswered questions remain. The full agreement has not been made public, the private Venezuelan partner has not been named, and it is unclear who will finance development. Legal experts have also raised concerns, as Venezuela’s constitution reserves core petroleum activities for the state.Ultimately, the strategy may wear Iran down, but this narrative has been repeated frequently, and time is running short until the November mid-term elections for the president and the GOP.
