XRP ETF Weekly Outflow Halts 13-Week Run as On-Chain Payments Slump

U.S. spot XRP ETFs posted a small weekly outflow, ending 13 weeks of inflows, while XRP Ledger payment volume plunged in a single day.

U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds recorded their first weekly withdrawal in three months, snapping a run of 13 straight weeks of inflows. SoSoValue dates the turn to the October 12–16 week.

Although the pullback was modest, a steep fall in on-chain activity has heightened wariness about the token.

A Modest Reversal in XRP ETF Demand

When investor redemptions from a fund outpace new additions over a set stretch, that counts as a net outflow. SoSoValue put net withdrawals from the XRP ETFs at about $1.84 million.

For funds this size, the amount is small. Still, it ended a run of 13 straight weekly inflows, which is why the turn drew attention.

SoSoValue data shows cumulative net inflows remained close to $1.8 billion through mid-October. The funds were mostly unchanged at the start of the week. They added around $740,000 on Wednesday and then moved into the red.

A heavier redemption on Friday, about $2.47 million, pushed the weekly figure below zero. Canary Capital's XRPC product was responsible for a large part of that withdrawal. Had that redemption not occurred, the week would have ended with net inflows of roughly $630,000.

The timing remains delicate. BeInCrypto data puts XRP at around $1.28, down 1.60% in the last 24 hours. Over the past month, it has shifted by about 6.3%. After slipping below key moving averages, the price is now testing support close to $1.30.

Is Weaker On-Chain Activity a Warning Sign?

On October 17, XRP Ledger payment volume dropped to 119.5 million XRP, according to XRPSCAN. That represents a 72.3% decline in a single day and is well short of the 629.3 million XRP 30-day average.

The decline was confined to one session, highlighting how fast network activity can turn.

XRPSCAN data shows the network's all-time payment volume peak remains near 7 billion XRP. Historically, payment volume has been highly volatile, marked by brief jumps and then steep retreats.

Analysts caution that one soft day does not by itself point to a structural drop in on-chain usage. But if payment activity continues to lag and ETF flows stay negative or subdued, the near-term picture could deteriorate.

What matters more than any lone data point is whether activity bounces back over the coming sessions.

At this stage, the first XRP ETF outflow in 13 weeks plus the sharp slump in payment volume suggest demand is cooling. Institutional and on-chain activity have both weakened, at least for now.
