Private Bitcoin Transactions Enabled by [[alloc] init]'s Shielded Bitcoin Proposal

Zcash holds above $1,600 as weekly shielded transactions hit 62,379, a four-year high, and institutional inflows rise.
Key takeaways
Zcash (ZEC) extended its advance on Wednesday, trading near $1,619 after rising 7.5% in the previous session.
The token is benefiting from growing adoption of the network's privacy features and increased demand for regulated ZEC investment products.
The privacy-focused cryptocurrency is also nearing the top of a bullish channel close to $1,700.
Momentum indicators remain favorable without flashing excessively overbought signals, leaving room for buyers to attempt another breakout.
A firm push above $1,700 could send ZEC into price discovery and bring the $2,000 psychological milestone into view.
If the resistance holds, however, a pullback toward support near $1,595 or the $1,422–$1,424 zone could follow.
The latest rally in Zcash has coincided with greater utilization of its shielded transaction system, which lets users hide certain transaction details.
According to Blockworks data, the network handled 62,379 shielded transactions last week. That marked the highest weekly level in four years, indicating that demand for Zcash's privacy features is rising alongside its price.
The Ironwood pool accounted for 55,549 of those transactions, roughly 89% of the weekly total. The concentration of activity in the newer pool suggests users are increasingly embracing the latest version of Zcash's shielded infrastructure.
Shielded transfers, unlike transparent blockchain transactions, employ cryptographic proofs to validate a transaction without revealing all its underlying details. This feature is central to Zcash's identity as a privacy-focused network.
Higher shielded activity could offer a more solid fundamental underpinning for ZEC's rally, as it points to increasing network usage rather than a price move driven solely by speculation.
Still, one strong week does not confirm a lasting adoption trend. Shielded transaction volumes need to stay elevated over a longer stretch to show that the increase reflects a sustained shift in user behavior.
Institutional investment products have also supported Zcash. Grayscale's ZEC-focused vehicle recorded $32.81 million in inflows on Tuesday, according to SoSoValue data. The inflow pushed the product's net assets under management to roughly $979.48 million.
The large daily increase points to growing investor appetite for ZEC exposure through a regulated investment vehicle. Such products let investors track the token's performance without buying, storing and securing it independently.
Zcash has also broadened its institutional reach in Europe. 21Shares recently introduced a ZEC-focused exchange-traded product on Euronext, widening the range of regulated channels available to investors seeking exposure to the privacy token.
Inflows into Grayscale's product combined with the new 21Shares ETP suggest improving institutional confidence. Continued inflows could reduce the free-floating supply of ZEC and support prices if demand stays robust.
However, investment-product flows can shift quickly. Traders must assess whether Tuesday's inflow signals the start of a sustained trend or reflects a temporary reaction to ZEC's recent price action.
Zcash was trading around $1,619 on Wednesday, preserving its bullish short-term structure.
On the four-hour chart, ZEC remains well above its major exponential moving averages. The 50-period EMA sits near $1,424, the 100-period EMA is around $1,295, and the 200-period EMA stands at roughly $1,108.
Trading above all three averages indicates that buyers retain control across multiple short-term time frames. Their bullish alignment also offers several potential support layers if the token faces a retreat.
ZEC is now approaching a descending resistance line connecting the August 23 and September 19 highs. That barrier is located near $1,700.
At the same time, a rising trendline linking the September 2 and September 16 lows forms the lower boundary of a bullish channel. The pattern suggests buyers have repeatedly stepped in at higher price levels.
A confirmed breakout above the channel resistance could accelerate the rally and push ZEC into price-discovery territory. In that scenario, the next notable target would be the round-number level at $2,000, representing a potential gain of roughly 25% from $1,600.
Ideally, a breakout should be backed by rising trading volume and a sustained close above $1,700. A quick move beyond the resistance followed by a rapid reversal could instead indicate a failed breakout.
Zcash's momentum indicators remain supportive of the bullish view. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence indicator is in positive territory and has crossed above its signal line. That crossover suggests upward momentum is building as ZEC tests the upper boundary of its channel.
The Relative Strength Index is near 63. The reading sits above the neutral midpoint of 50 but below the conventional overbought level of 70, pointing to strong momentum without suggesting the rally is overextended.
If ZEC fails to break above $1,700, the first support is near $1,595, corresponding with the September 19 high. Holding that former resistance as support would keep the immediate breakout thesis alive.
Below $1,595, the next significant zone lies between $1,422 and $1,424. That area combines the September 18 low with the four-hour chart's 50-period EMA, making it a stronger potential support region during a deeper correction.
For now, rising shielded usage, institutional inflows and constructive technical signals support the upside bias. The next decisive test is whether buyers can turn the $1,700 resistance into support and push the rally toward $2,000.
