Cramer Calls CrowdStrike’s AI Kill Switch a ‘Game Changer’ as Stock Falls

Jim Cramer turned bullish on CrowdStrike after its AI kill switch launch, but CRWD stock fell nearly 10% despite analyst upgrades.

CrowdStrike (CRWD) has unveiled a tool enabling firms to halt malfunctioning AI agents on command. Jim Cramer described it as a “GAME CHANGER.” Nonetheless, the stock has dropped almost 10% in the last week.

Deutsche Bank recently raised its price target for CrowdStrike shares. Could this new tool generate additional positive momentum?

What CrowdStrike’s AI Kill Switch Does

AI agents are programs that execute tasks autonomously using an employee’s credentials and permissions. They can deviate from their intended path without being compromised.

The switch was introduced at Fal.Con Europe, CrowdStrike’s customer event in Barcelona. According to the company, an administrator can stop a running agent, prevent it from restarting, and disable its network connectivity.

Currently, the stop function operates at a gateway through which agent traffic flows. A shutdown on employee devices will follow later.

CrowdStrike also struck deals to acquire Fiddler AI, which monitors agent behavior, and Dreadnode, which probes AI for vulnerabilities. The Wall Street Journal reported the combined purchase price at approximately $495 million.

“Every company is asking the same question about AI agents: can they be stopped? Now the answer is yes,” CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz mentioned in a social media update.

Will Cramer’s Endorsement Boost CRWD Shares?

CNBC's Mad Money host Cramer replied to that post with “Here we go. GAME CHANGER…” He had previously issued a "MUST BUY" recommendation for the stock in September.

Among 40 analysts monitored by TipRanks, 34 give CRWD a Buy rating and none a Sell. The average price target of $267.24 is roughly 10.5% higher than Monday's closing price.

The average target remains far below the projection from Deutsche Bank's Brad Zelnick, who lifted his 12-month price objective to $300 from $240, pointing to "a tsunami of cyber demand."

Deutsche Bank raised its rating on CrowdStrike ($CRWD) to Buy from Hold and increased its price target to $300 from $240. Analyst Brad Zelnick believes the market is underestimating AI-driven cybersecurity demand. He views CrowdStrike's estimate of a $565 billion market by 2034 as conservative, referencing a “tsunami of cyber demand.”

Nevertheless, CRWD has already risen approximately 107% year-to-date, and Dan Ives included it in his top 5 technology stock selections.

Monday's decline is linked by analysts to profit-taking in cybersecurity stocks such as Fortinet and Zscaler.

At the same time, despite CrowdStrike promoting an AI kill switch, Forrester's Jeff Pollard believes current agents could bypass such a mechanism.

“Unfortunately, most ‘kill switches’ pretend that the work is done when the agent is stopped which is not true….So finding ways to circumvent a kill switch is definitely within agentic capabilities of today’s production agents,” he stated to Forbes.

Halting an agent also does not reverse actions it has already taken.

Competitors Okta and ServiceNow are developing comparable controls. In Washington, a proposed House bill, the AI Kill Switch Act, would mandate that AI developers maintain a shutdown capability.
