Sellers push USDCAD lower; support zone at 1.41922-1.4204 tested
USDCAD fell 0.48% as sellers regained control, testing support at 1.41922-1.4204 after failing to sustain a breakout above yearly highs.
NZDUSD sellers drive the pair toward key support at 0.5575-0.5579, with a break below opening the door for further downside.
In Tuesday's trading, the NZDUSD stands out as a major mover, driven by a robust US dollar and a weak New Zealand dollar that has sellers firmly in charge.
From its August 21 peak of 0.5985, the currency pair has steadily declined, hitting 0.5579 last Monday. That level was just four pips above the November 2025 floor at 0.5575.
After that low, the price has seesawed, reaching a corrective peak of 0.56256 and leaving the current range under 50 pips. Following a prolonged drop, this consolidation indicates a pause in selling pressure. However, it alone does not confirm a trend reversal.
The sellers have returned to the vicinity of the recent floor.
Tuesday's slide has brought the exchange rate to roughly 0.5584, a mere five pips above last Monday's trough.
For market participants, the support zone of 0.5575–0.5579 now faces a critical test. Buyers can use this area as a foundation, placing their risk just beneath it. Sellers are aiming for a decisive break beneath this zone, coupled with sustained trading below it, to unlock additional downward momentum.
The next downside targets would include:
Breaking through the support is one challenge; holding below it is another. Should sellers breach the floor but the rate promptly rebounds above it, their attempt will have failed.
What would provide buyers with some relief?
If the pair bounces, initial resistance is around 0.5605, then the previous week's top near 0.5626–0.5627.
A climb above that barrier would hand buyers a short-term win and bring the declining 100-hour moving average at roughly 0.5644 into focus. Surpassing and holding above that moving average would further improve the technical outlook.
At present, sellers maintain dominance. Buyers must protect the support and later recapture the resistance. Until then, any rally remains a mere correction within the larger falling trend.
