Saudi Aramco's oil installations in Jizan came under attack on Monday in a fresh series of strikes, heightening worries about the safety of Saudi oil exports, as reported by the Financial Times.

Authorities are still evaluating the full scale of the damage. Those familiar with the matter said the assault was comparable in magnitude to the one last month, which caused a temporary halt to some output at the site. Aramco has yet to issue a formal response regarding the newest incident.

Jizan, situated in the southwest of Saudi Arabia near the border with Yemen, has been a frequent target for Yemen's Houthi movement, which is backed by Iran. Past strikes have affected Saudi oil infrastructure in both Jizan and Yanbu, increasing the geopolitical risks in an already volatile oil market.

This latest event follows comments from Aramco CEO Amin Nasser last month, who noted that assaults on the company's sites had led to brief production halts but had not created a material operational or financial effect.

The Jizan refinery processes roughly 400,000 barrels each day, meaning any sustained outage could have notable consequences for energy markets in the region.

For crude oil markets, the assault amplifies an already high geopolitical risk premium. Oil prices are currently influenced by numerous potential supply interruptions, such as rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz and assaults on energy infrastructure throughout the area.

Oil prices jumped upward when news of the strike broke. The market remains driven by headlines about supply disruptions, with strikes involving the US and Iran having the greatest effect. Unless tensions ease, the downside will stay limited and oil values will keep rising.
